Examining the Melody

Let's now examine the melody, starting with the first two bars:

Here the electric guitar plays a simple two bar phrase. Virtually every melody note is found in the accompanying harmony played by the acoustic guitar. Bars 3 and 4 simply repeat bars 1 and 2.

We've now played a two bar phrase twice. In bars 5 and 6 we vary the flow by playing one phrase per bar:

Every melody note can be found in the accompanying chords of the acoustic guitar. The same can be said of bars 7 and 8:

In these last 2 bars, we return to a two bar phrase.
