We have taken an eight chord progression lasting just four bars, and expanded it into sixteen bars of music. We accomplished this by constructing a simple melody whose notes we based on the accompanying chords, and by varying and extending the chord progression itself. With this exercise, we have discovered many of the basic techniques needed to construct any song or composition.
