Continuing the Melody and Chord Progression

Before we go any further, let's create a melody to go on top of those chord changes:

As you can hear, we continued our original rhythmic pattern for our melody. And as before, we simply chose notes from the accompanying chords as the basis of our melody.

Now we can return to our original chord progression. Because we are coming to the end of our composition, we will want to end the music on the I chord.  Let's use our second cycle of the progression (as heard in bars 5 through 8):

In this cycle, we played the entire progression, and then added the return to the I chord (C chord) at the very end.

Now let's add the melody. Once again, we return to our familiar theme:

The theme is played exactly as before, except for bar 15. Here, on beats 1 and 3, we played the melody a 3rd higher than was previously played:

Because we are repeating the melody, this slight variation helps to keep the melody sounding fresh.
