Adding a Melody

We now have 8 bars of our harmony. Before we proceed with more chords, let's start to cover our existing harmony with a melody. We can create that melody by using notes primarily found in the chords we will be covering:

As you can see, the stronger beats in the melody all contain notes from the chords accompanying it. Our melody starts with the note E which we can find in the C chord below:

Our next strongest beat is beat 3. Here the melody note is a G which we also derive from the new chord below the note:

You can see that we used this technique to find our main melody notes for bars 1and 2. We will use this method for the remainder of our composition.
