Lesson 5 Score/ Music |
Adding a MelodyWe now have 8 bars of our harmony. Before we proceed with more chords, let's start to cover our existing harmony with a melody. We can create that melody by using notes primarily found in the chords we will be covering: As you can see, the stronger beats in the melody all contain notes from the chords accompanying it. Our melody starts with the note E which we can find in the C chord below: Our next strongest beat is beat 3. Here the melody note is a G which we also derive from the new chord below the note: You can see that we used this technique to find our main melody notes for bars 1and 2. We will use this method for the remainder of our composition. |
