Adding a Touch of SuspenseAt beat 4 of bar 6, we find one final moment of light suspense. Here the violins perform a tremolo on the notes Eb and A (2 notes from our A diminished scale):
These two notes are also a tritone apart and create a soft tension when played by tremolo violins. At the downbeat of bar 7, the celesta plays a short descending arpeggio of notes that are all contained in the A diminished scale. In beat 2, the harp plays one last ascending arpeggio of notes from this scale:
We end the piece in bar 8, beat 2, with unison A notes (preceded by a short, comical grace note):
