Depth

Now that we have created movement, we need to establish a sense of depth. We can accomplish that by simply forming a wide distance between two musical sounds. We will use the low basses and the high violins to produce these two sounds:

The basses play a low E - the root note of the E Major 7th harmony. On top of that, the violins play a high B - the 5th of the E Major 7th harmony.

In the next two bars - when we go to the C Major 7th harmony - the violins and basses follow the new harmony. The basses play their lowest C and the violins, their highest C:
