Creating MotionThe first violins repeat the restful/active quality of nature that we discussed in Step 4. In bars 3 and 4, we take a slight pause in the clarinet melody. In these bars, the first violins come alive with an ascending and descending line. Here, the first violins perform a bowed tremolo on each note:
This creates a flutter of activity within each individual note and adds an additional element of growth when applied to an ascending line. When the clarinet continues its melody in bar 5, the first violins' moving line comes to a halt. As the clarinet melody comes to a pause in bar 7, the first violins' line comes alive again. The harp also plays an important role:
