Trumpet Suggested Range
About Our Suggested Ranges
|
Specific RangesLow Range(Note: All the scores on the following pages are written in concert pitch.) Let's listen to the trumpet in its low range: In this register, the trumpet sounds a bit restrained. High RangeNow listen to the same melody as played in a higher range: In this register, the trumpet really comes alive. Its top notes can sound almost piercing. Here it will be louder than any other instruments in your orchestration. Mid RangeThere is a middle ground between the low register and the high register where the quintessential trumpet sound lies: Notice the beautiful "sing-song" quality of the trumpet in this mid range. You can hear how easy it is for the trumpet to make melodies come alive. |
