Each Natural Minor scale consists of seven different notes that ascend from the root in the following interval sequence: whole step; half step; whole step; whole step; half step; whole step; whole step:

Building a Natural Minor Scale

You can create a Natural minor scale using the exact same notes as a major scale. It's simply a matter of starting on a different note. So let's take a look at a simple C major scale:

From beginning to end, this is an eight note scale starting on C and ending on C.

Now let's create a new scale beginning on the 6th note of the C Major scale. This note is A:

 

As you can see, we continued with the exact same notes as our C Major scale. For example, the 3rd note (C) of our new A Natural Minor scale was the root note of our previous C Major scale.
