Matching the Orchestra with the Drum Loop

After a brief violin run at the end of bar 10, we begin a new section in bar 11. Here the violas and cellos start a fast sixteenth note pattern of their own:

Just like the violins, they are merely playing notes from a C diminished scale. In this case, they are just playing the first five notes of that scale.

Notice that the stop and go quality of the viola/cellos pattern matches the erratic quality of the new drum loop playing beneath it. It is important to try to match the feel of the orchestra with the feel of the drum loop you are currently using.

In bar 18, the violins resume their sixteenth note movement. This prepares us for the return of our more hectic drum loop in bar 19. Here, the first violins hold a high C note, while the second violins continue the chore of playing fast sixteenth notes:

 

 

In bar 23, all the violins are playing a sixteenth note pattern. Again, they are merely playing the notes of the C diminished scale. And as before, the violins harmonize that scale in bars 24-26.  Let's listen to the violins' last four bars (23-26):
