Now that we know what notes we will employ, we can assemble our collection of ancient sounding instruments. Woodwinds tend to have a timeless quality. For this piece, we will use three different ones and several ancient sounding percussion instruments. You can always substitute ethnic wind instruments for the traditional woodwinds. For all of these, we can use sampled sounds or real musicians that specialize in unique instruments.

We start the piece with a violin chord which holds for the duration of the composition:

Even though the violin section is not an ancient sound, we are free to use it in this context as a subtle backdrop. The violins play two octaves of C notes, with the perfect 5th (the G) in the middle.

This open harmony has a very timeless sound that can be used to depict music from any era. In this, their highest octave, the violins' harmony provides an ethereal atmosphere which aids us in our time travel.
