Percussion Layers (cont.)

Layer 3

So far, we've been using high pitched percussive sounds. Our third layer will use lower, bass register sounds:

Here we use the kick drum, tom tom and some snare drum reinforcement. Besides adding a fuller, bass register sound to our mix, these instruments also fill in some of the missing rhythms in our rhythmic pattern.

Layer 4

Our fourth and final layer fills in the last of our missing rhythms:

The sounds of the claves and of the side stick add a nice contrast of color to our mix.
