Piccolo Suggested Range
About Our Suggested Ranges
|
General InformationThe piccolo is basically a smaller version of the flute. It sounds one octave higher than the flute and extends the woodwind sound to the very top of the musical range. NotationPiccolo parts are written one octave below the actual sounding pitch. RangeThe piccolo has almost a three octave range. Its lowest note is D5 (an octave plus a Major 2nd above Middle C) and its highest note happens to also be the highest note on the piano, C8 (four octaves above Middle C). Note: The piccolo's top two notes, B7 and C8, are very difficult to perform. |
