Basic Staff Elements |
The Grand StaffWhen the musical score has a Treble clef stave and a Bass clef stave, we refer to the staff as the Grand Staff: Piano music is typically written on the Grand Staff. Generally parts for the right hand are written in the Treble clef on the upper stave and parts for the left hand are written in the Bass clef on the lower stave. Middle CMiddle C is basically the dividing point between the Treble clef and the Bass clef. On the Grand Staff, Middle C is notated on a ledger line between the Bass clef and Treble clef staves: As we've previously shown, the bottom line of the Treble clef is an E. This E is the E directly above Middle C. The top line of the Bass clef is an A. This A is the A directly below Middle C. On the piano Middle C is the fourth C, counting upward, from the bottom of the keyboard: |
