Using the Major Chord:  Example #2

For our first example using Major chords, we heard very happy, almost bouncy music.  This is a common usage of Major chords.  But Major chords can also sound calm and serene.  Let's listen to our next example:

Here, the strings are simply playing three different Major chords.  Bars 1, 3 and 5 are C Major chords.  Bar 2 is an F Major chord, and bar 4 is a G Major chord.  

Once again, we are using the I ("root") chord, the IV chord and the V chord in the key of C.  Although the ordering of the chords is slightly different from our first example, we are still using just the I, IV and V chords.
