These eight bars now feel like one complete musical statement. While musically we can go on further from here, we don't have to. The first four bars introduce the theme and encourage us to repeat it. The second four bars repeat the theme and resolve the musical statement, giving a sense of completion to the music.

Remember, we have just created a satisfying eight bar composition from our original five notes. Each bar built upon the previous bar, so that a musical journey takes place. While musically this might appear simple, we have actually just established many of the basic building blocks needed for any compositional challenge you choose to tackle.
