Create an Eight Bar Piano Composition and Rearrange It.

Step 1 - Compose Your Melody.

Create a simple eight bar melody for the piano, right hand.

Step 2 - Add Bass and Harmony.

In the left hand, add bass and harmony. Because you will eventually arrange this music for other instruments, make sure you have clearly defined the bass part and the harmony part. Keep both parts simple.

Step 3 - Create A New Arrangement.

Adjust what you have just created. The purpose of this step is to stretch your imagination into hearing music different ways. Try using a different rhythmic pattern for your bass or harmony. If you are using chords for your harmony, play them as arpeggios. Find ways to adjust your original version.
