Introduction

Primitive sounding instruments and a simple pentatonic scale are all that are needed to bring musical life to the jungle. And by creating trance-like music, we replicate the hypnotic quality of this unique environment.

Pentatonic Scale

First let's choose our pentatonic scale. For this composition, we will use the Eb pentatonic scale:

And by using the marimba - a primitive sounding instrument - we can really create a hypnotic mood. Listen to the marimba play the first two bars of this piece:

You can see that all the notes in this part are found in our Eb pentatonic scale. Notice that we repeat the first three notes, three more times. By repeating several notes over and over again, we create a hypnotic mood.
