To create this mood, we employ the contemporary sound of a music sequencer. There are numerous sequencing software products on the market to choose from. Most sequencing programs include sound patches that continually repeat whatever note you are playing or holding.

In our example, the bass is merely holding the note C for six bars, yet it sounds like it's playing a constant pattern of 16th notes. This patch also contains a built in percussive pattern, in sync with the bass pattern. We have carefully chosen this patch because it helps create the constant tension needed for this Interrogation mood.  

 

On top of this sequenced pattern, we make use of both orchestral colors and additional sequenced sounds. To find the notes for those parts, we use the C diminished scale. For this example, we've chosen the mode that starts with the half-step:

From that scale, we only use the notes C, Db, F# and Bb.
