A Major 7th chord consists of a Major 3rd, a minor 3rd and another Major 3rd:

The reference for a Major 7th chord is either "Maj.7", "M7" or, in pop or jazz charts, "7".  So, either "C Maj.7", "CM7" or "C7" denotes a C Major 7th chord.
