Using Multiple Scales

As we stated at the beginning of Beyond the Major Scale, you can combine several different scales, one after the other, to construct a single composition. By using multiple scales, you create music with diversity and depth. Just as we use an array of instruments and an assortment of chords to color our music, we can use a variety of scales as well.   

Let's listen to one composition that incorporates several different scales. We will then take it apart to see how it is constructed:
